Autumn is officially right around the corner! The days are getting shorter and the air is getting cooler but you know what that means, the markets will be overflowing with the bountiful autumn harvest.
Autumn is the season to repair your skin from the warm summer months and prepare it for the cooler days ahead. It's the time of year for comforting soups and hearty stews using fresh wholesome foods from the local markets that are packed with so many beauty nutrients to support your skin and heal from the inside out.

This icon of autumn in North America is packed with fruit enzymes and alpha hydroxy acids which rejuvenates cell production to smooth and brighten the skin. Pumpkin also contains vitamin A and C which are powerful antioxidants that supply much needed protection from the sun.
Apple: Apples are a staple in my house, especially in the fall months. Remember to eat apples with the skin on as it contains antioxidants to help reduce inflammation and free radical damage.
Sweet Potato: I call this my fall superfood! Not only are sweet potatoes packed full of beta carotene (an antioxidant that your body converts into vitamin A), but just one serving contains the recommended daily amount of vitamin A, which is necessary to repair and heal the skin. Sweet potato is also rich in vitamin C, a key component needed for collagen production.
Autumn is also a good time to get rid of those dead skin cells that have built up over the summer months. Many of us have dull and dehydrated skin after the summer so now is a great time to exfoliate, stimulate blood flow and reveal new, healthy skin cells.
